A short series about a man who decides to meet people by selling stuff to strangers on the internet, with each transaction more awkward than the last.

Nickel & Diming is a short web series comprised of 10 total episodes: 5 have been produced, 5 are to follow. These were written during the lockdown in 2020 before any of us understood what we were about to witness.

After selling a few items online, I felt like people were desperate to connect, and after I sold each item, the buyers kept in touch, and I enjoyed the dialogue. I think we were all in need of some interaction.

Originally involving masks, a 6’ money stick, and some COVID references, we decided to put it on hold for a year and it was rewritten to omit any memory of that time. We felt each story held up without the gags and references.

Originally written to be shot by myself, with a single camera and two lavalier microphones, Nickel & Diming evolved to be a little more than that. Once the scripts were passed around amongst local Cleveland friends, filmmakers, actors and local businesses, we decided to expand the crew and production overall.

An incredible group of passionate professionals rallied around to make each episode and we now have what we call a Season 1.

With Seson 1 “in the can”, plenty more scripts already written, plenty of ideas floating around for more episodes and the amount of support by the local filmmaking community, we hope to produce more episodes and continue to tell more stories that include more characters, previous characters, new locations and implementing styles that make it a fresh series with innovative storytelling, funny moments and exploring the humanity of the buyer, the sellers and anyone else that may be a part of future episodes.
